Cantina Zeni 1870, located in Bardolino on Lake Garda’s eastern shore, produces this Bardolino Classico Superiore DOCG, a blend primarily of Corvina and Corvinone with Rondinella. The wine is made from late-harvest grapes, undergoing traditional skin fermentation and 15–20 days of maceration, followed by around 12 months aging in Slavonian oak barrels and finishing in stainless steel. It shows a deep ruby colour with aromas of ripe dark cherries, red berries, plum, and subtle spices like pepper and aniseed. Medium to full-bodied, it offers refined tannins, balanced acidity, and rich fruit flavours enhanced by smooth oak. The finish is long and structured, with persistent dark fruit and warm spice notes. With approximately 13.5% alcohol, it pairs excellently with pasta in red sauces, grilled meats, salumi, and aged cheeses. This wine delivers a sophisticated and accessible expression of Bardolino’s fuller style, combining vibrant native fruit with oak-aged complexity.
