Chiton, Tinto Reserva Rioja
Produced by Faustino Rivero Ulecia under the Chitón label, this Reserva Rioja from Spain’s Rioja DOCa is primarily composed of Tempranillo (approximately 80%) with Garnacha or Graciano making up 15–20%, varying by vintage. It undergoes 24 months of aging in American oak barrels, followed by 12 months in bottle, fulfilling Reserva standards. The wine displays a vibrant ruby-red hue with brick highlights and exudes sophisticated aromas of ripe cherry, plum, and strawberry, enhanced by notes of spice, tobacco, and vanilla from oak maturation. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and balanced, showcasing fresh and cooked red fruit flavors, subtle herbal spices, smooth tannins, and gentle oak nuances, culminating in a medium-length finish with persistent fruit and a touch of savory warmth. An excellent match for roast meats, lamb, game, and medium-cured cheeses, it embodies the classic style of Rioja Reserva with refined accessibility.
