Cherry brandy from South Tyrol

Cherry brandy from South Tyrol is a Dirndlbrand, a clear fruit spirit distilled from cornelian cherries, known locally as Dirndl, and bottled at 40% vol in 350 ml, 500 ml, 700 ml and 1 L sizes. On the nose there is marzipan, elderflower and red clover, then honey spice, cocoa, mint and a hint of hay and roasted chestnut. The palate is gently sweet, with marzipan, honeyed fruit and almond, fresh herbs, cocoa and caraway, and the finish is long and slightly dry. Sip it neat after dinner.
